Enter your date, time and place of birth to generate your Vedic birth chart: lagna, moon sign, nakshatra, all nine planets, doshas and your current dasha. Calculated with the Swiss Ephemeris, the same data professional astrologers use.
What is a kundli (janam kundali)?
A kundli — also called a janam kundali, birth chart or horoscope — is a map of the sky at the exact moment and place you were born. In Vedic astrology (Jyotish) it is the starting point for everything: personality, timing of life events through the dashas, and kundli matching for marriage.
The chart is divided into twelve houses (bhavas), each ruling an area of life — self, wealth, siblings, home, children, health, partnership, and so on. The sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth is your lagna (ascendant); it becomes the first house, and the other houses follow from it.
What this free kundli shows
- Lagna, moon sign and sun sign — in Vedic astrology your moon sign (rashi) is usually treated as your main sign.
- Nakshatra and pada — the lunar mansion the Moon was in; it decides your Vimshottari dasha and plays a big part in Guna Milan.
- The North Indian chart (D1) and the position of all nine grahas: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu, with retrograde planets marked.
- Manglik (Kuja) dosha and other doshas such as Kaal Sarp, Pitru and Grahan dosha, checked against classical rules.
- Your current dasha — the planetary period (mahadasha and antardasha) you are running now.
- Panchang at birth — tithi, weekday, yoga and karana.
How we calculate it
Planetary positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris, converted to the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa — the standard used by the Government of India's calendar. Houses are whole-sign houses, as in traditional Parashari astrology; Rahu is the mean node and Ketu sits exactly opposite. Your birthplace gives the coordinates and time zone, including historic daylight-saving rules.
How to read the North Indian chart
The diamond at the top centre is always the first house (your lagna). The houses then run counter-clockwise: the triangle to its upper left is the 2nd house, and so on round to the 12th at the upper right. The small number in each house is the sign it holds (1 = Aries, 2 = Taurus … 12 = Pisces), and the letters are the planets in it — Su, Mo, Ma, Me, Ju, Ve, Sa, Ra, Ke.
Frequently asked questions
Is this kundli really free?
Yes — generate as many as you like, without signing up or giving an email address.
Do you store my birth details?
No. The details you enter on this page are used once to calculate your chart and are not saved. (If you join the Kundli Match app, your own birth details are stored with your account so we can match you — that's explained in our Privacy Policy.)
Why do I need my exact time of birth?
The lagna changes roughly every two hours, and all twelve houses move with it. A time that is off by even 15 minutes can put planets in different houses, so use the time from your birth certificate or family records if you can.
Which system do you use?
Vedic (sidereal) astrology: Lahiri ayanamsa, whole-sign houses, mean Rahu/Ketu and the 120-year Vimshottari dasha, calculated with the Swiss Ephemeris.
Can I check Manglik dosha here?
Yes. Your kundli says whether Manglik (Kuja) dosha is present and how strong, looking at Mars from the lagna, the Moon and Venus. In matching, a Manglik person is traditionally matched with another Manglik — kundli matching checks this for both people.
Is my kundli the same as my zodiac sign?
Not quite. Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, so your Vedic sun sign is often one sign earlier. In Vedic astrology the moon sign (rashi) usually matters more than the sun sign.
